Course Summary
The Maths A-level course is a two year course. Students will study Pure Maths, Mechanics and Statistics. We provide all students with online text books and hard copies.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Throughout the course there will be regular assessments to monitor students. The final assessed exams all take place at the end of the second year. There will be three papers. Two of the papers will assess Pure Mathematics skills and the third will assess Statistics and Mechanics.
Entry requirements
The minimum requirement is 7 GCSE grades 9-4 in an appropriate range of subjects, including English Language at grade 4 or above.
The college will accept one BTEC at Merit level as one GCSE equivalent.
Subject specific:
Maths requires a GCSE grade 7 or above in Maths.
Your next steps...
You could take this course with other advanced level courses to prepare for higher education in Mathematics related areas such as engineering, economics, physics or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a profession related to Mathematics such as an Accountant, Engineer, Financial Adviser or Teacher.
The course also helps you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the economic and financial sectors. You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for an Advanced GCE in Mathematics. You could also go straight into employment, as the A-level is a recognised qualification that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
