Course Summary

Students interested in the sports and exercise industry should look no further than this course. It will provide the knowledge, skills and understanding of how to go far in the sports industry. The course has been designed for students who have a real interest in the theoretical and practical aspects of anatomy and physiology, physical and psychological sports performance, coaching and fitness. It will give the opportunity to develop your knowledge and investigate a wide range of sport, exercise and coaching aspects.

This course has a combination of Non-examined assessment (NEA) components and examinations.

Entry requirements

Students will need to meet the entry requirements of their chosen pathway:

Pathway 1: Five or more GCSE grades 5-9 (including English Language and Maths) for an A-level study programme

Pathway 2: Five or more GCSE grades 5-9 (aiming for a 5 in English Language and Maths) to study two A-level subjects and one Level 3 Diploma/AAQ

Pathway 3: Five or more GCSE grades 4-9 (resitting English Language or Maths if needed) to study one A-level and two Level 3 Diplomas/AAQs or three Level 3 Diplomas/AAQs

Additional entry requirements for this course:

A Merit at Level 2 in Sport or Grade 4 in GCSE PE (if studied)

Your next steps...

This course is aimed at students who have a passion for sport and are looking to follow a career in sports performance, nutrition, coaching/teaching, officiating, journalism, sports psychology or sports medicine. This course can lead on to a range of sports related jobs direct from school, but can also earn UCAS points allowing students to continue their studies at university.�
