Course Summary

Our lives and world are rich in complex visual imagery. Studying A-Level Art and Design will give you the knowledge and skills to read and interpret visual language from a range of contexts and cultures, both contemporary and historical. Many of the skills you will learn as an artist are transferable; creative decision making, self-discipline, reflection and collaboration are all extremely useful across a range of careers.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

This course has two Non-examined assessment (NEA) components. One is set and marked by the centre and moderated by AQA (60%) with the second set by AQA, marked by the centre and moderated by AQA (40%).

Entry requirements

Students will need to meet the entry requirements of their chosen pathway:

Pathway 1: Five or more GCSE grades 5-9 (including English Language and Maths) for an A-level study programme

Pathway 2: Five or more GCSE grades 5-9 (aiming for a 5 in English Language and Maths) to study two A-level subjects and one Level 3 Diploma/AAQ

Pathway 3: Five or more GCSE grades 4-9 (resitting English Language or Maths if needed) to study one A-level and two Level 3 Diplomas/AAQs or three Level 3 Diplomas/AAQs
