Course Summary
• Preparing surfaces for decorating
• Applying paint systems by brush and roller
• Applying water-borne paint systems using high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray
• Applying standard papers to ceilings and walls
• Producing specialist decorative finishes
Health and safety is of paramount importance in all areas of the construction industry, and this will be reinforced throughout the course. Vocational core skills of English and Maths will be embedded in the programme along with specialist delivery to enable learners to reach GCSE grade 4 or equivalent standards to meet industry requirements.
In addition to the specialist skills described above, we will help you to develop a range of wider skills that will make you into a well-rounded professional who will be highly valued by employers and universities. During tutorials we will develop your Employability skills, Personal Learning, Social and Community skills, together with your Specialist skills and qualification will give you a distinct advantage when it is time for you to progress to employment or further and higher education.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
Your skills and knowledge will be continuously assessed throughout the course; additionally each unit will be assessed by end multiple choice examinations and practical tests.
Support will be provided through regular meetings with your course tutor.

• Gaining employment within the Painting & Decorating industry and undertaking an apprenticeship scheme to gain further qualifications and experience
