Course Summary
Working in our commercial salons you will be working to professional standards and abiding by strict health, safety and hygiene criteria in a range of services including:
Client Consultation and promoting products and services
Shampooing and Conditioning the hair and scalp
Cutting and finishing Women's and Men's Hair
Setting and Blow-drying using a range of techniques
Curling and Straightening techniques
Dressing Hair using plaiting and twisting techniques
You will have the opportunity to enter competitions, listen to guest speakers and join trips to hair and beauty exhibitions.
You will be encouraged to study and further develop your English and Maths to assist in your career and personal development.
Your interview and the college Welcome events, will give us the opportunity to get to know you better and ensure you have a clear understanding of the career path and course and ensure that you enrol on the right level to suit your needs.
If successful in gaining a place you will be required to attend Taster Days during the summer before the start of your course. You will also carry out a practical aptitude test.

Entry requirements
Your acceptance on the course will be based on a successful interview and assessment of your commitment and ability to meet the demands of the course and the expectations of employers in the industry. Individuals will be considered on their suitability and references showing good attendance and behaviour and a genuine interest in the industry.
Entry onto this programme will require 3 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above including English and Maths. Completion of the Level 1 hairdressing qualification, and a track record of good attendance is a distinct advantage. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview. An Apprenticeship, in a salon as a Junior Stylist, and/or a Full Time or Part Time Level 3 Hairdressing Course.
