Course Summary
The course is delivered over one year and is a progression route for learners who have completed A-Levels or have completed a Level 3 Extended Diploma from an Art and Design or a Creative Media related course but would like an extra year to broaden their awareness, applied thinking and extend their critical understanding and independence. This course assists individuals to make an informed decision when applying to a Creative Industry course at higher education.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Entry requirements
• Have a minimum of 1 full A Level in either an art & design related subject or a creative media related subject.
• Or have completed a BTEC/UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in either an Art & Design or Creative Media subject at Pass/Merit/Distinction level.
• Supported by five GCSE grades 9 - 4 (A*- C) or equivalent (must include English and Maths).
In addition
• A portfolio of work submitted at interview which demonstrates evidence of having achieved a standard which will enable the student to benefit from the course.
• GCSE English Language and Maths is highly desirable especially if applying to Higher Education.
• Show at Welcome Event an interest in the Art and Design industry e.g. portfolio of recent art & design or creative media work.
In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
