Course Summary

The BTEC Level 3 in Health and Social Care provides much of the underpinning knowledge for the National
Occupational Standards in Health and Social Care and consequently acts as a robust introduction to both sectors. It
prepares learners for employment in the sector or for higher education. Learners will benefit from gaining a number of
mandatory units as well as a range of specialist units .

Mandatory units include:
• Human Lifespan Development
• Working in Health and Social Care
• Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
• Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care
• Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs
• Work Experience in Health and Social Care
• Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care
• Promoting Public Health

Most learners on the BTEC Level 3 programme work towards a BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in year one and
progress onto the Extended Diploma in year two. Mandatory work experience will be arranged for you and is essential
to the qualification. Learners then benefit from a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification which carries up to 168 UCAS
points to support progression to Higher Education.

There will be a cost to students of £150 which includes a security check (DBS), course materials and kit. 19+ fees apply.

After enrolment on the programme you will have to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS). Due to the
work experience requirements it is not possible to complete the course without satisfactory clearance.

where you performance will be observed and assessed.
