Course Summary
• Forming masonry structures.
• Constructing solid walling incorporating isolated and attached piers.
• Preparing components and erecting cavity walling.
• Setting out for masonry structures.
• Constructing masonry cladding.
• Interpreting construction drawings and information to produce masonry structures.
Health and safety is of paramount importance in all areas of the construction industry, and this will be reinforced throughout the course. Vocational core skills of English and Maths will be embedding in the programme along with specialist delivery to enable learners to reach GCSE grade 4 or equivalent standards to meet industry requirements.
In addition to the specialist skills described above, we will help you to develop a range of wider skills that will make you into a well-rounded professional who will be highly valued by employers and universities. During tutorials we will develop your Employability skills, Personal Learning, Social and Community skills, together with your Specialist skills and qualification will give you a distinct advantage when it is time for you to progress to employment or further and higher education.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
Cskills Awards (CITB) Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying. This course specialises in developing bricklaying skills and you will study topics such as: Health & Safety, Setting Out Buildings, Construction of Solid Wall, Cavity Wall and attached Piers. As part of your Study Programme you will also study GCSE English and mathematics, you will also be required to undertake extensive periods of work experience related to your chosen vocational area.

On successful completion of this course you may be able to join a Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying. You could undertake an apprenticeship within the building trade.
