This course is about: All topics studied in this course are reflective of what is going on in the world today. Topics you may have studied in GCSE Geography, including hazards and population are developed at a greater depth at A level. The course has been created with help of leading expert geography teachers, and includes a strong practical ‘in the field’ element. A number of contemporary resources and case studies are investigated at depth to contextualise high level geographical theory. These include the Tohoku tsunami of 2011, the depletion of the Aral Sea, one of the largest freshwater lakes and the emerging international influence of emerging world superpowers such as China and India.
You will develop essential knowledge and understanding of the key concepts in human and physical geography and how they relate to each other. You will develop the skills, knowledge and understanding of geographic methods of enquiry, and develop an innate ability to analyse, assess and evaluate geographical sources of evidence. You will explore a wide range of current affairs relating to our topics of study. You will learn how to undertake an extended independent geographical investigation which is designed and under taken by you alone and much, much more!
