Course Summary
If you wish to pursue a career in the sport and active leisure industry, specifically in coaching, this course is for you. You will work towards reaching standards laid down by the sport and active leisure industry.
Course Details
Alongside the main qualification you will develop other employment and personal development skills ready for the world of work. You also have opportunities to join sports academies, sports teams, sports clubs, contribute to sports events and be rewarded for volunteering through our step in to sport programme.
There may also be opportunities for you to gain sports coaching qualifications (such as FA coaching badges and LTA leadership awards funding permitting).
You will work towards achieving the following core units:
- Working in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry.
- Physical and Sports Education in School and Community Settings.
- Sports Leadership.
- Working as a Sports Leader.
It is key that you have a work placement to be able to gain experience in the role of a coach and leader and generate evidence for your portfolio. You will also undertake classes to develop work skills ready for the Sport and Active Leisure Industry.
Our sports courses are run at our specialist Sports Campus at Alive Lynnsport, near to the King's Lynn campus.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
This course is assessed through written assignments, practical observations and presentations.
Entry requirements
You will need:
- 3 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher and including at least one from English and maths
Or:
A Level 1 qualification with all associated awards
To demonstrate maturity to work in the leisure industry
All students are required to attend an information session and demonstrate passion, enthusiasm and commitment to the course and sport.
