Course Summary
If you are interested in studying Science at University, or working in the field of science, this course provides you with the skills, knowledge and qualifications you need to progress.
Course Details
Many students progress onto the Science - Level 3 course after successfully completing this course.
The course provides a broad understanding of chemical, physical and biological concepts and is made up of eight compulsory units and four optional units.
Units can include:
- Principles of science - externally assessed
- Chemistry and Our Earth
- Energy and Our Universe
- Biology and Our environment
- Applications of Chemical substance
- Applications of Physical Science
- Health Applications of Life Science
- Scientific skills - externally assessed
- The Living Body
- Investigating a crime scene
- Understanding human behaviour
- Monitoring the environment
How will it be delivered and assessed?
All but two of the units are internally assessed via coursework assignments and tests. Students who produce excellent work may gain Merit or Distinction grades.
Entry requirements
You will need:
- 4 or more GCSEs at grade 3 or higher, including English and maths
Or:
- A relevant Level 1 qualification studied at CWA or another further education provider. This does not include level 1 courses studied at school alongside GCSEs.
