Course Summary

If you are interested in TV, publishing, journalism, broadcasting, advertising or media production, then Media Studies may be the subject for you. In A Level Media Studies, you will deconstruct many forms of media through theoretical study and practical exploration, as well as constructing your own media products to further your creative abilities. We will think analytically about audience demographics and the way that we interact and engage with media texts on a daily basis.

The course is made up of 3 components, through which you will analyse, study and create a range of the following media forms:

Advertisements & marketing materials

Newspapers

Video Games

Music Videos

Radio and film marketing

TV programmes

Magazines

Online media (such as blogs and websites)

The course has a focus on both theoretical analysis and hands-on, practical media production, so is an ideal choice for someone wanting a mix of exam and project-based assessments.

Entry requirements

You will need a GCSE grade 5 in English.
