Course Summary

T-Levels are a 2-year qualification and are an excellent alternative to A Levels, other post-16 courses, or an apprenticeship. They have been designed with leading businesses and employers to give you the knowledge and skills you need to fully understand the role of supporting the adult nursing team.

The course is full-time and takes two years to complete.

Course Details

All students will develop a general understanding of health and science:
• working within the health and science sector
• health, safety and environmental regulations
• managing information and data
• principles of good scientific and clinical practice
• core science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics, microbiology and immunology
They will also learn about topics specific to health, including:
• understanding the healthcare sector
• providing person-centred care
• supporting health and wellbeing
• further knowledge of both human anatomy and physiology and of diseases and disorders
• infection prevention and control
All students complete a minimum of 315 hours working with an employer on an industry placement
Due to the nature of the industry placement all students must hold a clear enhanced Disclosure and Baring Service check and will be supported to complete an application at the start of term.

Entry requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C) or above including English, Maths and Science

OR

Successful completion of a full Level 2 in a related subject and 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C) or above including English, Maths and Science

No prior study of the sector is needed but learners should normally have a range of achievement at Level 2, in GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.

In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
