Course Summary

T Levels are new qualifications that follow GCSEs and are equivalent to 3 A Levels. They are co-created with industry to ensure you gain the knowledge, and skills employers need.

The Digital Software Development T Level focuses on software engineering, programming, and app development. You’ll build a strong foundation in coding principles, software lifecycle, and agile methodologies. The course also explores the commercial aspects of the digital sector, including legislation, business context, and digital environments.

You will then follow a specialism designed to support your interests, so you can get deeper into the chosen subject and build up the skills you need for your future job.

The specialist modules in Digital Production, Design and Development will then enable you to put everything you learn into practice, with a substantial industry placement of around 45 days.

This gives an amazing opportunity to work with an employer while you study and gain invaluable experience as well as key skills that employers are looking for.

Modules include

• Core Principles of Software Development

• Programming Languages and Techniques

• App and Web Development

• Software Testing and Debugging

• Agile Project Management

• Industry Placement in a Software Development Environment

How will it be delivered and assessed?

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.

All units are externally assessed predominantly in the form of coursework, short tests, assignments, etc.

Entry requirements

English Language 5+, Maths 5+ along with 3 other GCSEs at a grade 5+

In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
