Course Summary
Our new introductory diploma in health and social care is a perfect place to start your journey into the sector and work towards progressing to a level 2 and beyond.
Course Details
What will I cover on this course?
During the course, you'll complete four compulsory units designed around your progression:
- Being organised
- Developing a personal progression plan
- Working with others
- Researching a topic
You'll also work towards six of the following units:
- Finding out about health and care services
- Communication skills for health and social care
- Making healthy snacks when caring for people
- Advising others about health lifestyles
- Providing a creative activity when caring for people
- Supporting others to use adapted equipment safely
- Measuring older adults' fitness levels for everyday tasks
- Visiting a health or social care setting
As part of the course, you'll also work towards completing 60 hours work experience to help show you exactly what working in the sector is like!
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course is assessed through numerous different methods including a two-week planner, assignments and practical activities.
Entry requirements
Whilst there are no general grade entry requirements for our level 1 programmes, you will be expected to show:
- A good attitude towards learning and a willingness
to progress, including in English and Maths (if
applicable) - A keen interest in the subject and a commitment to
working hard
We will invite you to attend an information session and applicant experience day (if you have been offered a place before May) before you start your course to help ensure that this is the best course for you.
