Course Summary

If you're looking to embark on a career in the hairdressing profession, this is the course for you. It covers a wide range of content related to working in hair salons, including consultation, shampooing, promoting products, hair cutting and more.

Course Details

During this course you will gain an understanding of some of the basics and important aspects of hairdressing and the industry. At both our King's Lynn and Wisbech campuses, you'll have the opportunity to in our specialist salons which are set up ready to help you progress into the industry.

What is covered in this course?

Course content will include:

  • Working in hairdressing
  • Health and safety
  • Shampoo and conditioning
  • Promoting products and services
  • Cut women's hair
  • Colour and lighten hair
  • Perming
  • Art of dressing hair
  • Create an image based on a theme
  • Reception

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessments are carried out using four methods:

  • Observation of practical competence

  • Short assignments

  • Oral questioning

  • Written mandatory tests/online tests

A portfolio of work is built up during the course and used as part of the assessment process.

Entry requirements

You will need:

  • 4 or more GCSEs at Grade 3 or higher, preferably including English and Maths Or;

  • A relevant Level 1 qualification studied at CWA or another further education provider

You will be invited to an interview to help us ensure the course is right for you.
