Course Summary
This course is for young people aged 16 - 18 years old who want to improve their language skills for further study at the college or employment.
Course Details
The course will emphasise Language skills - reading, writing, speaking and listening in a variety of contexts. Numeracy and ICT will also be taught. Vocational workshop tasters and work experience will be included where possible.
Develop your speaking and listening skills to help you successfully integrate and navigate daily life in the UK, using real life scenarios such as applying for work, attending job and college interviews, going to the doctors' surgery, asking for directions and understanding work colleagues. You will also have a fantastic opportunity to make new friends using English!
Improve your everyday reading skills to help you read and understand information, such as news, instructions, books and job advertisements.
Build your writing skills so that you can communicate effectively. This will include writing emails, reviews, reports, job application letters and supporting statements to apply for work placements, jobs and college courses.
We also offer a part-time equivalent of the ESOL course for students aged 19 or over starting each September. Therefore, if the number of places on the full-time course is limited, priority will be given to 16-18 year olds.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The qualification is assessed with reading, written and verbal assignments.
Entry requirements
There are no specific entry requirements.
