Our brand new T Level in design, surveying and planning for construction is the perfect course for you if you're interested in a career in surveying or designing for the construction industry.
Course Details
At the College of West Anglia, we have a long history of working with those interested in progressing into the construction industry. We've offered level 3 and higher national certificates for many years and have a great relationship with relevant employers in the area.
During the course, you'll be working towards learning the skills to prepare you for the workplace. These skills will include:
- project management
- budgeting and resource allocation
- procurement
- risk management

By joining this course, you'll not only gain an excellent practical skillset to work in surveying, design or planning, you'll also develop a general understanding of the construction industry, including:
- health and safety
- the science behind building design, surveying and planning
- making accurate and appropriate measurements
- construction methods
- building regulations and standards
- data management and information standards in construction
- relationship management and customer service
- how the internet of things impacts constructions
- digital engineering techniques
- mathematical techniques to solve construction problems
- construction design principles and processes
- the role of construction in the economy
- sustainability and the environmental impact of construction
- business, commerce and corporate social responsibility
Work placement
Throughout this course, you'll be able to put everything you learn into practice in the workplace as you'll be expected to complete 315 hours (around 45 days) relevant work experience over the two years.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
This course is assessed by skills related projects, core examinations and an employer set project.
How many UCAS points will I achieve on this course?
The number of UCAS tariff points for a T Level diploma varies between 72 and 168 points, depending on your grade for the core content and the specialism.
We've included some examples below of what grades you need to achieve common UCAS tariff point entry requirements:

Entry requirements
You will need:
- 5 GCSEs at grade 4 and above, including English and Maths
You must be aged 16 - 18 (or 19 - 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan) to study a T Level programme.
