Course Summary

The course will inspire you to produce computer-based product, taking you from consumer to creator. It will prepare you for the world of work or for progression to Level 3 courses in Computer Science or Games Design.

Course Details

What will I study?

  • How the internet provides online services to support business operations
  • The technical concepts that support the transfer of data over the internet
  • Database Theory
  • How to use graphics software, such as Photoshop
  • PC Repair and Maintenance
  • Programming Project

This programme of study also provides you with the opportunity of gaining Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) qualifications.

Further study (additional classroom sessions) in Maths or English are built into the timetable for those who are still working towards these subjects.

We strive to offer places to all genuine applicants on Computing courses at both our King's Lynn and Wisbech sites. However, to ensure a place is available to all applicants (at the level of study suited to them), we may have to confirm the alternative campus for their choice of study, where 'home to college' travel distances would otherwise exclude some learners.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Two units are assessed via online exams. All other units are internally assessed via technical reports and project-based work.

Entry requirements

You will need:

  • 4 or more GCSEs at grade 3 or higher, which must include a grade 4 in at least one out of English and maths.
    Or:

  • A relevant Level 1 qualification (at Merit where graded) studied at CWA or another further education provider. This does not include level 1 courses studied at school alongside GCSEs. And a GCSE grade 4 (or higher) or FSL2 Pass in Maths or English
