If you're interested in working either with children, this course is for you. It will develop your knowledge and awareness of children's and young people's settings.

What will I study on this course?
On this course, you'll cover the following compulsory modules:
- Sharing learning experiences with children
- Growth and development of young children
- Human growth and development
- Respecting and valuing children
- Childrens play and leisure activities in the community
- Preparing for your next steps
- Supporting babies to play
- Science activities for young children
- Technology activities for young children
- Musical activities for young children
- Healthy living
- Healthy eating for families
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment of the course will be carried out in a number of ways. You will be required to work on practical activities, work as part of a group, complete written assignments, prepare activities and displays, discuss and evaluate your work.
Students need to achieve a pass level in all units to achieve their qualification. All students will be expected to complete some work placement or volunteering opportunities.
Entry requirements
Whilst there are no general grade entry requirements for our level 1 programmes, you will be expected to show:
- A good attitude towards learning and a willingness to progress, including in English and maths (if applicable)
- A keen interest in the subject and a commitment to working hard
- You will also need a current/satisfactory DBS check
You will be invited to an information session and applicant experience day (if you have been offered a place before May) before you start your course to help ensure this is the best course for you.
