Chemistry

The Chemistry curriculum is exciting as outcomes could lead us to discovering new drugs, creative in the possibility of inventing new compounds or new uses for existing ones. It is challenging, using problem solving skills to solve hunger, disease and pollution.

Chemistry students will use their skills to plan and undertake synthetic and analytical chemistry experiments and develop problem solving skills by analysing and making conclusions from data. Students will work together to complete tasks designed to stretch and challenge their understanding of chemistry from the foundations for the periodic table and energy to organic and physical chemistry modules.

5 grade 6s at GCSE including 6s in English and Maths;

Grades 7-7 in GCSE Combined Science or Grade 7 in GCSE Chemistry.

A Chemistry qualification opens wide the door to the future. Chemistry is named as an essential or acceptable A level for more degree courses than virtually any other subject. Chemists are in demand in many unrelated and diverse careers, not only Medicine and Veterinary Science, but also Forensic Science, Sport, Art Restoration, Environment, Cosmetology, Brewing and Food. Many other professions recognise and reward the numeracy, problem-solving and logical thinking skills that Chemistry develops.
