Course Summary
This apprenticeship develops the knowledge, skills and behaviours which are necessary to become a bricklayer.
Course Details
It has been developed by the leaders in the industry to meet the specific requirements of the industry and to enable individuals to Lay bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Consists of 3 components:
- Knowledge Test - Forty multiple-choice questions
- Skills Test - 3 simulated practical tasks that will holistically assess the skills, knowledge and behaviours described in the Apprenticeship Standard.
- Oral Questioning - approximately fifteen questions to confirm knowledge & behaviours which are part of the portfolio
Entry requirements
You will need:
- An employer who is available for you to start as an apprentice
- A recognised English and maths qualification at level 1 (such as functional skills)
You will be expected to achieve English and maths at level 2 as part of your apprenticeship.
An interview will be required to identify your potential, commitment and motivation to achieve the apprenticeship. We will also use the interview as an opportunity to discuss your employer. Depending on your level of English and maths, you may be asked to complete an initial assessment to show your ability to complete a further level 2 qualification in English and / or maths.
