Course Summary
If you've been out of education or have been home schooled or attended an alternative provision and are interested in learning a trade, our Award in Construction and Employability Skills course is a perfect stepping stone to support your progression into a relevant level 1 course.
Course Details
What will I do on this course?
This course is delivered over 1 year and starts in September each academic year. You'll work towards achieving an entry level qualification in construction which will help set you up to progress to our level 1 construction skills course the following year.
You'll spend time in the workshop learning the basic skills required in the following trades:
- Bricklaying
- Carpentry
- Groundwork
You will work towards gaining English and maths qualifications to support your progression to the level 1 construction skills course.
You'll also complete units to help prepare you for progression and adult life. For example, you may complete units on personal finance, conduct at work, interview skills, effective communication and a general introduction to health and safety.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

After successfully completing this course, you will have the opportunity to progress onto our level 1 multi-skills construction qualification.
