Course Summary
Engineering Manufacturing Technicians work across a wide range of sectors, including Automotive, Aerospace, Defence and Manufacturing. They are employed by organisations of all sizes and play a vital role in meeting the UK’s growing demand for skilled engineers and technicians. The role focuses on providing specialist technical support to engineers, helping organisations develop, manufacture, test and improve products and processes. Technicians gather and analyse data, solve technical problems and produce accurate documentation to ensure products meet customer requirements for quality, cost and delivery. Engineering Manufacturing Technicians contribute to areas such as quality, reliability, production planning, costing and compliance. Their work helps guide how products are designed, manufactured, tested, modified, maintained or commissioned.
This role typically combines office based and manufacturing based work, often within engineering or production teams. Technicians work closely with engineers, managers, customers, suppliers and regulatory bodies, including supporting audits and demonstrating compliance with industry standards.
Key responsibilities include supporting the delivery of safe, high quality products and services, ensuring work is completed on time and within agreed costs, non routine problems, producing and maintaining accurate technical documentation and identifying and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
Apprentices will attend college on day-release for 1 day a week during term time for 2 years to study towards an HNC in Engineering.
