Course Summary
Building Services Engineering makes buildings work. It is a specialist branch of engineering within the construction sector. Craftspersons undertake the installation, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning and decommissioning of large-scale engineering systems which are used for heating workplaces such as those found in industrial and commercial buildings like office blocks, factories, schools and hospitals. These engineering systems operate by moving temperature-controlled water around the inside of buildings, providing heating and cooling, and utilise fossil fuels and sustainable energy systems.
This programme is for those who are currently working in the Heating and Ventilation industry. The course covers the knowledge and skills required to achieve a career in installing building services and associate skills.
This role involves carrying out installations, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning and decommissioning of large-scale engineering systems which are used for heating workplaces such as industrial and commercial building, i.e. office blocks, schools and hospitals.
The Building Services Engineering Craftsperson at Level 3 has been developed based on learner and employer needs and has been designed by employers for learners wishing to gain an apprenticeship in building services.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
End-Point Assessment (EPA) is made up of a number of assessment elements which an Apprentice must pass in order to successfully complete their Apprenticeship. The EPA may include:
• Record of achievement
• Practical observation

• Professional Discussion
Facilities, Kit & Equipment
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be taken care of by your employer and you will be required to use this within your practical workshops at college. You must have protective shoes and work clothes for the college workshop.
Entry requirements
English and maths GCSEs at a minimum of grade 4 (C) or equivalent.
Remember, an apprenticeship is a job so the hiring employer may have additional criteria that will have to be met alongside CRC’s entry criteria.
