About us

Thank you for showing an interest in our ambitious Sixth Form. Located at the heart of the St Neots community, Longsands Sixth Form is a thriving 16–18 provider. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide an exceptional education that aids our young people to learn, thrive and succeed.

Our staff are deeply committed to helping scholars achieve their very best, and in return, our scholars are eager to succeed. This partnership leads to excellent academic outcomes and rich personal achievements - whether through trips, additional study, or exciting career opportunities.

The key to successful post-16 education is a broad and balanced curriculum, taught by passionate subject specialists, enabling every scholar to pursue ambitious pathways that match their talents and aspirations. At Longsands Sixth Form, we deliver exactly that. We develop curious minds and instil strong values that prepare our scholars to thrive in life beyond education. Our Sixth Form offers a strong core of traditional A Level subjects, complemented by a diverse range of additional options.

Learning extends far beyond the classroom. Scholars enjoy a programme of extra-curricular activities, from competitive sports and clubs to trips and additional study.

Our purpose-built Sixth Form building provides dedicated spaces for independent study and socialisation, and we are investing further in our facilities to support learning. We are very excited about the future developments that will enhance our Sixth Form even more.

As Executive Principal, I am proud of what Longsands Sixth Form provides, and want the very best for every young person in our care. I look forward to welcoming you.

Mr Francis Bray

Student support

Our exceptional and comprehensive system of pastoral care at Year 12 and 13 ensures that all our scholars are individually supported to achieve their very best.

At the start of Year 12, each scholar will be allocated a tutor who will be their point of contact. As well as daily group meetings, tutors will meet with scholars on a one-to-one basis every three weeks for academic coaching to help carefully monitor their progress.

The happiness and wellbeing of our scholars is vital to their success in school. Our pastoral support system ensures that no scholar slips through the net, and all have access to any support they need to flourish.

The support offered to scholars can take many forms, from developing time management and planning skills, to life goals and mental health and wellbeing support.

Our high expectations regarding scholar behaviour ensures an excellent atmosphere in which to learn. In the Sixth Form, we recognise scholars are young adults and respond to this by providing greater freedom. However, it is also important to maintain high levels of support and have monitoring procedures in place to ensure that with this greater freedom, standards and progress do not slip.

What makes us different?

We are delighted to share our exciting plans for the refurbishment of our Sixth Form building over the coming years.

A total of £700k will be invested by Astrea Academy Trust into the Sixth Form to provide improved facilities such as a café and spaces for learning and socialising.

This building is exclusive to our Sixth Form scholars, providing them with their own facilities separate from the main school.

The work will be completed in phases during 2026, aiming to be completed by September 2026, ready for the next cohort, offering a vibrant, purpose-built space for study and socialising.
