Course Summary

T Levels are the new qualification for 16- to 19-year-olds that follow on from GCSEs and are equivalent to 3 A Levels.
They have been co created by the Government, Industry and Awarding bodies to give you the skills and knowledge required to kickstart you chosen career and leap ahead of the crowd.

The core element of the T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction will give you knowledge in a range of subjects such as design principles, project management, health and safety, surveying and digital software. You will also learn about the commercial side of construction, including stakeholder management, business structures and entrepreneurship.

The construction industry is changing rapidly to meet the needs of the 21st century with high expectations of sustainability, digital integration and better working relations. You will learn diverse new skills in digital technology, innovation, planning and sustainability, to take advantage of this exciting and unique Industry as it moves into the future.

After completion of the core element, you will then follow a specialism designed to support your interests, so you can get a deeper understanding of your chosen subject in real world industry scenarios, building up the skills required for your future job.
The specialist modules in Surveying and Design will enable you to put everything you learn into practice, with a substantial industry placement of around 45 days.
This provides an amazing opportunity to work alongside industry employers while you study, in such disciplines as Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Architectural practice, to gain invaluable experience along with many key skills that employers look for.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.

To be awarded a T Level, students will need to complete the following two elements:

1) Technical qualification, which includes:
‌ a. core theory, concepts and skills for that industry/sector
‌ b. specialist skills and knowledge for an occupation

2) Industry placement with employer

The T Level assessment combines examinations in the core skills, with a practical skills test for the occupational specialisms developed in practice.
Industry based assessment come in different forms, giving you the opportunity to develop key skills and behaviours tailored to your employment. Group work, portfolios, and practical projects set by employers are just a few of the many ways you can show how your knowledge has developed.
T levels are a nationally recognised qualification, with the top T Level grade (Distinction*) being equivalent in size to 3 A levels at A*. 5. UCAS POINTS A T Level attracts UCAS tariff points so students can use the qualification in applying for higher education.
