Course Summary

Taken as part of the IBCP Programme; Sports BTEC forms the Careers Related Study section of the Programme. You take it in combination with two or three IB subject choices. Please ensure you indicate these choices on your application. You will have the opportunity to discuss and amend them at your guidance meeting with us.

The course in made up of 18 units and looks at a variety of different areas of sport including;
- Coaching in sport and assessing sports performance
- Fitness principles including fitness tests and designing training programmes.
- Injuries within sport and sports massage
- Sports psychology and nutrition
- Sports business and event organisation
- Sports development and issues in sport

The course is delivered in a practical manner with assessments ranging from written reports, portfolios and posters to verbal assessments, presentations and practical assessment.

Entry requirements

International Baccalaureate Career Programme We require at least five subjects at GCSE grade 5 or higher, ideally including Mathematics and English and preferably with a grade 5 in your area of specialism. Strong interest in the vocational BTEC subject will need to be in evidence at the guidance meeting.
