Application Instructions
Students should submit applications by 19 December 2025.
Applications will remain open throughout the year and late applications will be considered; however, students should be aware that they may not receive their preferred choices if a late application is received.
Once applications have been received, all applicants will be invited for an interview to discuss their application and ensure that their subject choices are suitable.

Course Summary
This course covers core topics such as Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training and Programming, and Professional Development in the sports industry.
Course Details
Learners will study three mandatory units:
• Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology
• Unit 2: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being
• Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry.
Learners will also choose one optional unit from a range which has been designed to support choices in progression to sport courses in higher education, and to link with relevant occupational areas.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Mandatory units
1 Anatomy and Physiology - external examination
2 Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being - Synoptic external assessment
3 Professional Development in the Sports Industry - internal assessment
Optional units – learners complete 1 unit out of the following:
- Sports Leadership
- Application of Fitness Testing
- Sports Psychology
- Practical Sports Performance
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths.
