Course Summary
You should take this Extended Certificate qualification if you want a Level 3 qualification that builds applied knowledge and skills in health and social care. This qualification is an Alternative Academic Qualification that is the same size as an A Level. When it is taken alongside other Level 3 qualifications, it will complement them, helping you to build broader knowledge and skills that are valued in undergraduate study, and relevant for progression to higher education. You would take this qualification alongside other Level 3 qualifications, as part of your programme of study at Key Stage 5.
Course Details
You will study six units made up of a combination of two exams and four non-examined assessment (NEA) units:
- FO90: Principles of health and social care - exam
- FO91: Anatomy and physiology - Exam
- FO92: Pearson - centred approach to care - NEA
- FO93: Supporting people with mental health conditions - NEA
- FO96: Supporting people in relation to sexual health, pregnancy and postnatal health - NEA
- FO97: Supporting healthy nutrition and lifestyles - NEA
You should take this Extended Certificate qualification if you want a Level 3 qualification that builds applied knowledge and skills in health and social care.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The units you cover will be assessed through a combination of externally set exams and internally assessed coursework.
Entry requirements
You will need 5 grade 4 or above, including a 4 or above in English and Biology or Core & Additional Science.
