Course Summary

Musical Theatre is a highly practical course, providing you with the necessary skills and opportunities you need to develop into a ‘triple threat’ performer. The course consists of a combination of rehearsals, performances, reports, journals, and presentations, allowing the Musical Theatre performer to be fully understood.

This course is available to study as an Extended Certificate (60-credit course, equivalent to 1 A Level)

Key Musical Theatre practitioners will be explored, and a range of repertoire learnt. You will develop your singing technique and jazz dance skills, before learning how to successfully bring together your acting, singing, and dancing skills into a Musical Theatre performance. You will continuously evaluate your skill development and set yourself targets in development journals. This leads onto the performance of a full musical and devising of a Musical Theatre piece in the second year when all of these skills can be put into practise.

You will be expected to take part in Performing Arts enrichment such as choir, dance technique, LAMDA college productions. This will support the development of your performance skills ready for the future!

The professional approach gives you the preparation you need to pursue a Musical Theatre course at a top conservatoire, or a University based course. The course also supports a range of transferable skills to further any career in Performing Arts.
