Course Summary

Mental wellbeing is just as important as physical health. It shapes our daily lives and, equally, the reverse is true – our daily activities shape our mental health. This exciting new qualification explores the vast range of factors that have positive and negative influences on our mental wellbeing, as well as the roles of individuals and organisations in ensuring our society can be as mentally healthy as possible.

This course is available to study as an Extended Certificate (60-credit course, equivalent to 1 A Level).

In this up-to-date qualification, we will explore both the historical and current perspectives of mental health, as well as the challenges faced by individuals and societies that link to our wellbeing. From the influence of social media to environmental concerns about climate change, we will consider the contemporary issues that so many of us are exposed to on a regular basis, that could harm our mental health – or transform it for the better.

You will learn how mental wellbeing is a diverse concept that means different things to individuals. You will understand how individuals can be empowered to manage their mental health and wellbeing, as well as the valuable role that all organisations can play in supporting service users and employees.
