Course Summary

This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to work in the Social Care sector.

This qualification aims to:

• focus on the study of the social care sector

• offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge, skills and behaviours

• provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills

The objectives of this qualification are to:

• provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to develop competence as a

lead social care worker in a range of social care support settings

• develop the knowledge and skills needed when working in social care settings

This qualification caries up to 162 UCAS points and will enable you to progress to Level 4 or Higher Education to study in areas such as Nursing, Social Work, Youth Work, Sociology, Criminology and Social Policy. Alternatively, you could seek employment as a Health Care Support Worker and related caring roles or work in the social care sector, e.g. Mental health work, social services, probation work, youth justice, older people services and more.
