Course Summary
This two-year course is designed for students who want to start a career in the hospitality industry. It provides a practical, hands-on introduction to working in hospitality, helping you develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours employers are looking for.
You will gain experience in a realistic working environment and build confidence in customer service, teamwork and professional standards. This course is ideal if you enjoy working with people and want a more practical route into employment.

Occupational specialism
A large part of the course takes place in practical settings, where you will develop front-of-house customer service skills, prepare and serve food and drink, work as part of a professional team and build confidence in real working environments.
You will also have opportunities to take part in realistic service situations and college-based commercial activities.
Industry placement
You will complete work experience or industry placements to develop real workplace skills, understand employer expectations and build confidence and professionalism.

Entry requirements
We recommend 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths, or a relevant Level 1 qualification.
You should also have an interest in hospitality, a positive attitude and good communication and teamwork skills.
Entry will depend on a successful interview,
Individuals will be considered on their suitability, references showing good attendance and behaviour and a genuine interest in the industry.
In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level.
