Course Summary

This highly creative subject develops your visual art and design-based skills, and extends them within a digital setting.

You will develop a wide range of practical skills leading to the creation of exciting design outcomes, such as magazine layouts, digital illustrations, logo designs and advertising materials, allowing you to produce a diverse portfolio of professional quality design work. You will also have the opportunity to see your designs come to life on physical products such as clothing, skateboards, book covers and packaging.

You will be taught by practising graphic designers and Illustrators, who can give you a real insight into the creative industries

Course Details

You will work in our high-tech digital Mac suites, using professional grade equipment and software such as drawing tablets and the Adobe Suite, giving you the opportunity to gain sort-after software skills and develop an experimental and diverse portfolio.

You will also have opportunities to learn how to work with clients, create effective presentations and to successfully work to a client brief. You will be taught by practising graphic designers and Illustrators, who can give you a real insight into the creative industries.

You can also take up exciting opportunities to work on live design briefs such as designing advertising materials for the Police and t-shirts for Strawberry fair, giving you unmissable opportunities to work with real clients.

Entry requirements

At least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4, including GCSE English.
Grade 4 in GCSE Art, GCSE DT, GCSE Media, GCSE Photography, or equivalent, if taken.
If students have not studied a GCSE subject listed above they should bring a creative portfolio to their Advice and Guidance Meeting

The Graphic Design Level 3 Diploma will enable you to gain progression within the design field, entry to a Level 4 Foundation course in Art and Design and also entry to a

degree level course in Graphic Design.
