Course Summary

The Extended Project Qualification should be selected as an additional choice alongside A Level or Level 3 courses.

Students in Year 12 are given the opportunity to complete the Extended Project Qualification, over 12 months from December to December. You will receive initial information and support during tutorial sessions during your first term.

Course Details

The Extended Project Qualification course encourages creativity and curiosity and is designed to help students apply the independent learning skills, including research which support progression to higher education or into professional working life; and adds extra UCAS points to your university application.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Under the guidance of an assigned tutor; you will select a topic, plan, research and develop your idea before creating the finished product, which could be in the form a written report, a production, performance or artefact. Following completion of your project you will be required to present your project to an audience of at least two people, though you may choose to have more. As part of this you will discuss what you have gained from the experience as well as summarising the process and final outcome of you work, as well as answer a small number of questions from the audience.

Entry requirements

At least 5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above; an ability to be self-directed in selecting and completing the project task and a willingness to work independently.
