Course Summary

If you've been out of education and are interested in learning a trade, our Endeavour: Construction and Employability Skills course is a perfect place for you to start!

Course Details

Our Endeavour programmes create a supportive and positive learning environment to develop study skills, as well as raise attainment and self confidence.

Our new Endeavour: Construction and Employability Skills course takes the best bits from our general Endeavour programme and mixes it with the practical elements of a construction course at CWA.

If you decide to join Endeavour, you'll be getting support with your personal development and giving yourself the opportunity to gain skills to progress to future study and employment.

During the course, you'll have access to career support which will help find the most appropriate next step for you, whether that's further study or employment.

What will I do on this course?

This course is delivered over 1 year and starts in September each academic year. You'll work towards achieving an entry level qualification in construction which will help set you up to progress to our level 1 construction skills course the following year.

You'll spend time in the workshop learning the basic skills required in the following trades:

  • Bricklaying
  • Carpentry
  • Painting and Decorating

You will work towards gaining English and maths qualifications to support your progression to the level 1 construction skills course.

You'll also complete units to help prepare you for progression and adult life. For example, you may complete units on personal finance, conduct at work, interview skills, effective communication and a general introduction to health and safety.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course but all students will be expected to show they are committed to attend the full block of learning.

You must be aged 16 - 18 (or 19 - 25 with an active Education, Health & Care Plan) to study this course.

We'll meet with you before you start the course to make sure Fresh Start is right for you! This will likely involve an information session with the course team.

Your next steps...

After successfully completing this course, you will have the opportunity to progress onto our level 1 multi-skills construction qualification.
