Course Summary

Develop your skills in decision-making, problem-solving and critical analysis as you analyse businesses and the markets they serve. Our key am is to nurture your enthusiasm for learning about modern business issues, introduce you to the wide range of activities that go on in a business and how decisions are taken in an ever-changing environment.

You will gain an understanding of the business world from the perspectives of various stakeholders such as customers, managers, owners, shareholders, employees and society in general.

You will also learn that businesses cannot operate in isolation, but are affected by economic, environmental, ethical, governmental, legal, social and technological issues; with reference to real-world businesses being made throughout your studies.

Course Details

Year 1

You will study a range of introductory business ideas including enterprise, market research and business location. Finance, Marketing, Human Resources and Operations will be central to your studies. Data and financial analysis will be included throughout this year. Reference to real-world businesses will be made throughout the year, nurturing your enthusiasm for learning about modern business issues.

Year 2

You will study a range of challenging and strategic business issues faced in the ever-changing world we live in; focusing on larger-scale business, in which key decisions are likely to affect whether a business will remain successful. The effects of the external environment upon business performance is analysed.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

100% exam.

Entry requirements

At least 7 GCSEs at Grade 4, including GCSE English.
Grade 5 in GCSE Maths.
Grade 5 in GCSE Business Studies or a Merit in Level 2 Applied Business, if taken.
