Course Summary
Why study Sport?
Students interested in the sports and exercise industry should look no further than this course. It will provide the knowledge, skills and understanding of how to go far in the sports industry. The course has been designed for students who have a real interest in the theoretical and practical aspects of anatomy and physiology, physical and psychological sports performance, coaching and fitness. It will give the opportunity to develop your knowledge and investigate a wide range of sport, exercise and coaching aspects.

What will I study?
The BTEC Sport Level 3 course is designed for those learners who have an interest and passion for sport and PE. A combination of assessment methods are used across the range of units to develop students' confidence in their own ability to apply knowledge in order to succeed in the workplace, or to progress to higher education. Within the course, there are specialist units, providing the learner with more in depth understanding of specific areas within the sports industry.
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport covers 18 units over two years. In the first year of this course, you will study a range of topics including Anatomy & Physiology; Fitness Training and Programming; Sports Leadership; Fitness Testing. As part of our full-time study programme, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and complete a range of subject related courses and qualifications aimed at supporting your future career.
Sport Extras
The PE Department will offer a range of visits to sports facilities and opportunities to participate in a range fo sports and a spectator or participant! There will also be leadership and coaching opportunities across our Trust in both primary and secondary education phases.
Entry requirements
Minimum Entry Requirements:
5 x 4s *
At least a 4 in English and Maths
Subject Specific Entry Requirements:
At least a 4 in PE if taken at GCSE
At least a Pass in Sport if taken at Level 2
* Please note that Level 2 vocational courses are the equivalent of 1 GCSE and only 2 will be counted towards the entry requirements

This course is aimed at students who have a passion for sport and are looking to follow a career in sports performance, coaching/teaching, officiating, journalism or medicine. This course can lead on to a range of sports related jobs direct from school, but can also earn UCAS points allowing students to continue their studies at university. "
