Course Summary

The BTEC Dance course, equivalent to a single A-Level, is an exciting and practical pathway for students passionate about dance. This course combines practical performance with academic study, offering a comprehensive understanding of the dance world. It’s ideal for students who want a creative and hands-on approach to learning, but would also like to study other subjects alongside particularly those who are considering further education or a career in the performing arts industry.

Course Details

The course covers a range of units that allow students to develop technical, creative, and theoretical skills. Practical components focus on developing physical skills through various dance styles, such as Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz. Students are also introduced to choreography, where they learn to create their own pieces, exploring themes, narratives, and techniques. In addition, the course incorporates theoretical elements, such as analysing professional works, understanding the history of dance, and studying anatomy and physiology to enhance performance.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Internal and external units which are both practical and written.

Entry requirements

Equipment required

For the Audition, you will need dance kit or clothing you can move in. Full kit lists will be provided after a successful audition.
