Course Summary

Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour. It is useful for a wide range of careers and touches on virtually every aspect of life.

Course Details

  • Key assumptions and concepts for cognitive, social, learning and biological approaches in psychology

  • Application of psychological assumptions to explain contemporary issues of aggression in society. The use of psychology in business to explain and influence consumer/employee behaviour. Application of psychology to explain gender identity
  • Different psychological approaches to mental health, stress and addictive behaviours, including smoking, alcohol, gambling and shopping

  • Application of psychological assumptions to treating and management of mental health, stress and addiction
  • The practice of psychological research, including designing and carrying out research

Entry requirements

The minimum requirement is 7 GCSE or equivalent passes at grades 9-4 in an appropriate range of subjects, including Maths and English Language at grade 4 or above.

The college will accept one BTEC at Merit level as one GCSE equivalent.
