Crisis, Conflict and Communism focuses upon life under dictatorships (communist and anti-communist) in the twentieth century, including the Soviet Union, East Germany and Nazi Germany.
About the Course
Crisis, Conflict and Communism focuses upon life under Communist regimes in the twentieth century, including the Soviet Union and East Germany. Both our History courses include the study of a period of British history, and a free choice (made once you are in Year 12) from a range of coursework topics. There is a thriving student-run History Society which organises an annual two-day conference and regular screenings of historical films.
The extensively-resourced History website includes a range of additional reading resources on both topics central to your courses and other historical topics. Playlists on YouTube and 'Clickview' enable you to consolidate your learning or revise using relevant documentary excerpts, and the department's website includes a number of overview/revision podcasts, which students have found immensely valuable.
