Crisis, Conflict and Communism focuses on life under Communist regimes in the twentieth century, including democracy and dictatorships in Germany from 1919-1963 and tsars, revolution and communists in the Soviet Union from 1855-1964.
About the Course
You will also study England in Revolution: the early Stuarts, civil wars, and Cromwell from 1603-1660, and you will be able to choose from a range of coursework topics, which currently include: witch hunts in early modern Europe c.1450-1750, the French Revolution: Robespierre and the Terror 1793-94, and the end of the British Empire in Kenya.
Students can only take one History course at the College.

- War to Wall: Democracy and Dictatorships in Germany, 1919-63.
- England in Revolution: The Early Stuarts, Civil Wars and Cromwell, 1603-1660
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Consists of three written exams and one non-exam assessment:
Paper 1: England 1603-60: The Civil Wars and Cromwell (1hr 30mins, 25%)
Paper 2: Germany 1918-63: Weimar, Nazi Germany and the Division of Germany (1hr, 15%)
Paper 3: Russia 1855-1964: Tsars and Communists (2hr 30mins, 40%)
Non-examined assessment: 3000-4000 word essay (20%)

You need to be qualified by both the relevant Admissions Score AND the predicted GCSE grade for each A level you apply for.
