Course Summary

The qualification aims to develop the interest and enthusiasm of learners for history and build an understanding of its intrinsic value and significance in society today. It will assist in the understanding of different identities within society and provide an appreciation of aspects such as social, cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity. It will help them become independent learners, and critical and reflective thinkers, with curious and enquiring minds. Learners will make links and draw comparisons within or across different time periods and aspects of the past, enabling them to better assess the world in which they live today. It will also enable them to organise and communicate their knowledge and understanding in different ways, arguing a case and reaching substantiated judgements.
