Course Summary

Students taking this course overwhelmingly find it to be an enjoyable, rewarding, stimulating and empowering experience, as it is a challenging qualification, which both extends and deepens your knowledge and understanding beyond the standard A level Mathematics. It provides a challenge and a chance to explore new and more sophisticated mathematical concepts, as you will explore new areas of pure mathematics, as well as further applications of mathematics in mechanics, statistics and/or decision mathematics.

Course Details

This course builds on the skills, knowledge and understanding set out in the whole GCSE subject content for mathematics and the subject content for A Level Mathematics qualifications. Assessments are designed to reward you for demonstrating he ability to provide responses that draw together different areas of knowledge, skills and understanding from across the full course of study. Problem solving, proof and mathematical modelling are assessed in further mathematics in the context of the wider knowledge which you will have studied.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed by four externally examined papers. You must take Paper 1 and Paper 2 and at least two further optional papers.

Entry requirements

At least 7 GCSE Grades 9 – 5 to include English and Maths at Grade 8 or above. You must also additionally be studying Mathematics A Level.
