||Chemistry A Level
||GCE A/AS Level or Equivalent
Understanding Chemistry helps you understand the world around you. We all perform many chemical reactions every day in our lives, for example; our bodies grow, develop and function entirely as a result of the chemical processes that go on within them. Chemistry is an explanation for everyday things and studying A Level Chemistry will enable you to understand many of these fundamental processes. Students studying Chemistry will not only deepen their scientific knowledge but will also develop an appreciation of how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how science contributes to the success of economy and society. If you have an inquisitive mind and enjoy finding out why and how things happen then this course would be suited to you.
Module 1 Development of practical skills in chemistry
Module 2  Foundations in chemistry
Module 3 Periodic table and energy
Module 4  Core organic chemistry
Module 5 Physical chemistry and transition elements
Module 6 Organic chemistry and analysis and will be examined over three papers in June 2019.
How will it be delivered?
Paper 1: Periodic table, elements and physical chemistry. The paper will consist of multiple choice and structure questions covering theory and practical skills, covering module 1,2,3 and 5. 2hr 15 mins (37%).
Paper 2: Synthesis and analytical techniques. Structure as above, covering module 1,2,4 and 6.
Paper 3: Unified chemistry. Structure questions and extended response questions covering theory and practical skills. 1hr 30 mins 26%, covering all modules.
