Our Diploma in Animal Care course is aimed at learners that are looking to start a career in the animal care industry. Learners could progress into employment, onto an Apprenticeship, or further their studies by taking other qualifications at Level 2.


Compulsory topics include:

  • Animal Health and Welfare 
  • Animal Behaviour and Handling 
  • Maintain Animal Accommodation
  • Practical Animal Feeding
  • Work Related Experience
  • Animal Breeds and Grooming

Learners will be in college for 3 days a week and there will also be a period of external work placement hours that all learners will complete (150 hours in total)

How will it be delivered?

This qualification is assessed through an exam, assignments, completion of work experience and continuous assessment of all practical work

Entry requirements

You will need: 

  • 4 or more GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or higher, with at least one Grade 4 in either English, Maths or Science


  •  A relevant Level 1 qualification
