Becoming Independent - Entry Level 2
Preparation for Life and Work
What will you be working towards?
||Other Regulated/Accredited Qualification
This course is in the suite of Bridge to Independence courses which are programmes of further education for students with severe learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
The courses are designed for young adults to help develop independent living skills and who have the potential to progress, the enthusiasm to continue learning and who require a supported learning environment. The nationally recognised qualification gained is structured to allow learners access to a curriculum which develops skills and knowledge in areas such as cooking and shopping for yourself, travelling independently through the TITAN programme and an additional qualification in English and Maths.
How will it be delivered?
Assessment is ongoing and consistent throughout the academic year, this is evident via an initial screening process and then regularly via Learn. Learners are assessed on an individual basis by the tutor and through the verification of completed portfolio units. Learn allows for the learner to log in and view their progress and targets so they are always aware of their achievement to date. Three progress reviews and regular staff meetings ensure that the assessment and review process continues to map individual progression.
There are no formal entry requirements but learners are expected to show a positive attitude to learning. An initial interview visit is followed by a taster session. This provides an opportunity to assess whether the course will be able to meet the needs of the learner.
