Animal Care and Welfare Assistants look after the routine day to day husbandry and care of domestic and/or wild animals under guidance in a variety of different settings.
Work may be carried in such places as kennels, catteries, laboratories, animal welfare centres, Vet practices, farm parks, rehabilitation centres, retail outlets and in the transportation of animals.
Working as an Animal Care and Welfare Assistant requires strong work ethic and working irregular hours possibly in varying weather conditions
On successful completion of portfolio and learning the candidate will complete and End Point Assessment consisting of a Practical Assessment and Professional discussion with an external organisation. A grading of Pass or Distinction is achievable
You will be interviewed and assessed to identify your potential, commitment and motivation to achieve the apprenticeship, based upon the range and level of activities you will be undertaking in the workplace Candidates need GCSE 2/E grade Maths & English.
You may be required to complete an initial assessment for Maths and English to show ability to undertake study towards Level 2 Maths and English.
