Overview

This study programme will provide students the skills and techniques to further progress within their chosen specialism within Art and Design. These specialisms can include Fine Art, Ceramics, Product Design, Fashion, Textiles, Photography and Graphics. The skills and knowledge gained on this study programme will support your progress to employment and Higher Education at University.

During the course you will study units including: Characteristics and Contexts, Preparation for Progression, Engaging with and Audience and Project Proposal Realisation. You will complete relevant work experience and, if necessary, you will also study Maths and English.

Your work experience will benefit you for when you decide to venture into the Industry you have chosen, we aim to help you as much as possible with finding this. And, with strong industry links we are dedicated to helping you experience the best of the Industry.

How will it be delivered?

Your work will be continually assessed throughout the year with written assignments, presentations and practical work.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, one of which must be English or Maths. Although it is not essential, it would be beneficial to have studies and Art and Design based subject at GCSE. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

After successful completion of this study programme you can progress onto the Level 4 Foundation Diploma, attend higher education at University or gain employment within the industry.
